My Counselling Journey
Motivation
I began my working life as a hairdresser, and loved my job. Creating exterior images that enhanced people's self-image was rewarding and satisfying. I always wanted to be able to support people on a deeper level.
I was motivated to become a Counsellor, through personal therapy. Counselling tranformed my life and I gained a deeper understanding about myself. The support that I received motivated me to give back to others, and inspired me to become a counsellor. The positive change empowered me.
I feel passionate about the natural process of change.
In 2021, I gained my Counselling
Diploma and became a member of the BACP, professional body for Counselling and Psychotherapy. I have been supporting people with emotional distress, anxiety, grief and relational difficulties, with one-to-one counselling support.
My approach is Person-centred and I am trauma aware, using the Polyvagal Theory to understand the stress response in the body. Offering a co-regulating safe space, empathy and acceptance to connect with clients.
'The paradoxy of person-centred counselling is that when I can accept myself, change happens' Carl Rogers, (1902-1987).
Learning to trust your own instincts, gain a sense of autonomy and acceptance, enables a person to make their own choices in life and connect to what feels right.
I am passionate about the Counselling process and humbled by the courage of clients.
